The Brief
Create a dictionary for creative writing, curated into sections for storytelling. It needs to be hilarious, illustrated and for ages 7-13. Using data science to curate the words with humour and eye catching illustrations to help the words stick.
Process
- Created and organised the asset library, isolating, tagging and filing over 1000 illustrations to gather assets for nouns and abstract nouns to create the foundation of the dictionary
- Working with Writing, Curriculum and Design teams, we concepted illustrations for words and nouns, carefully selected based on data from Cambridge studies on the best 10000 words to learn to excel in school.
- Selecting the finals Art directed by the creative genius behind some of Hollywood’s biggest animated hits, Craig Kellman, each word is accompanied by a hilarious illustration to clarify meaning.
- Along side working with the art team, I lent a hand to design, helping drop content and copy and exporting artwork to send to print.
- Then later on, designing for the marketing of the product too, including web mock ups, emails, social media posts, and facebook advertising.
