Café Vert Torrefacteur Window Drawing

The beginning of this year brought new opportunities to get back to doing what I love: illustration! Particularly, illustrating for small businesses to reflect their passion and specialty. Café Vert in Bastille, Paris, is a warm and cosy café where I had been remote working during my few months living in Paris. So I was thrilled when they expressed interest in collaborating with me on a charming window project.

You can watch the process of the window illustration in the video below! Working closely with Café Vert, I depicted their coffee journey from bean to cup, incorporating the in-house roasting machine — their unique offering, freshly roasted coffee. To add a touch of nostalgia, we also included a beloved childhood character, ‘La Linea.’ ❤️

I learnt a lot during this project, some communication difficulties with my lack of good french, but most importantly, it taught me how to get a feel for the business’s passion and preferences. Learning the time frames for both the initial sketching and idea phase, as well as the final implementation of drawing on the window itself. Firstly, I photograph the space and, using Procreate, created digital overlays of ideas and rough sketches until both Café Vert and I were happy with the final concept. Lastly, we selected a day that would cause minimal disruption to draw the final artwork on the window.
